Oregon Columbia River Gorge

Great sailing windsurfing spot on the Washington side. Do not kite here, there's no way to launch your kite.
Getting there: take the bridge in Hood River, go on Highway 14 about 20 mn. Good swells when the wind is blowing 3.7. Friendly to beginners. Grass rigging. Plenty of parking but be sure to buy the Discovery Pass at a convenience store in Washington ($30). Sandy bottom on both ends of the river.
Works often when Hood River is cloudy. This is a Near East site. We give it a 5 star because of sandy bottom, good swell options, proximity to hood river, accessibility, bathrooms and fit for all levels.
